humble beginnings

In the Fall of 2019, six astounding women at Life West Chiropractic College expressed a shared interest in forming a sisterhood on campus. Rather than altering their mission and vision of what they wanted out of a professional chiropractic women's organization by joining an established chapter, they trail-blazed an effort to create a sisterhood unlike any before seen in the profession.

Diljot Virdi got five other women interested in forming the Alpha Chapter. In December of 2019, prior to the winter recess from school, they gathered in the library group study room and mapped out exactly how to make the dream a reality.

The six noblewomen who initiated this organization, amidst the chaos that is a rigorous chiropractic curriculum and clinical internship, would come to be known as the “Founding Six” and included, in no particular order:

Chi Rho Lambda (XPL) is a professional chiropractic sorority with roots in the San Francisco Bay Area. Chi Rho Lambda was founded in Fall 2019 at the Life Chiropractic College West campus by women with a shared passion to create a sisterhood for the women on campus. Chi Rho Lambda took on the Greek letters XPL that same year, and with a deep desire to build community, began to flourish. We invited the next set of exceptional women into the Alpha Chapter in the Summer of 2020.

Chi Rho Lambda stands for upholding principled chiropractic, promoting sisterhood, unity through adversity, strength, confidence, and achievement. We aim to promote a superior commitment to academic excellence while maintaining high social, moral, and professional standards. Our sisterhood is of the utmost importance and within it, there are many opportunities for personal growth, professional connections, and promoting goodwill in the community.

This assemblage of soon-to-be and current women Doctors of Chiropractic carries the passion of the Chiropractic principle, the female desire to connect, and the grandeur that comes with developing one’s professional skills. The Sisters of Alpha Chapter have engaged in various sororal and social functions including Sista Bonding events, quarterly trash clean-ups, and Friday Morning Philosophy Talks. Chi Rho Lambda manages the LCCW Food Pantry year-round-- a program dedicated to providing a variety of fresh and nonperishable healthy food items to LCCW members in need.
